A Prayer for Our Anniversary
Father, another year, and here we still are. I looked at my spouse across the table tonight and felt the whole weight of it, all the seasons we have weathered, the laughter and the hard nights, the ordinary days that quietly became a life.
I confess I do not pause to be grateful often enough. I let the small grievances loom larger than the long faithfulness, forgetting how rare and precious it is to still be choosing each other after all this time.
So I come to You with a full and thankful heart, the One who has carried us through every year we are counting tonight. You held us together through the times we nearly came apart. None of this happened by accident.
Thank You for the gift of this person. Thank You for the patience we have learned and the grace we have given and received. Renew our love for the years ahead, and let it deepen rather than dim.
You said that a threefold cord is not quickly broken, and ours has held because You have been the third strand all along. Keep weaving us together, tighter still.
I lay our marriage before You with gratitude and hope. Thank You for the road behind us. Walk with us down the road ahead, and let our love grow lovelier with age. Amen.
Amen.
Long faithfulness is its own quiet miracle. Stop and thank Him for it.
