A Prayer for My Husband

2 min readPray slowly
“Two are better than one, for if either falls down, one can help the other up.”Ecclesiastes 4:9

Father, he is carrying more than he says out loud. I can read it in the set of his shoulders, the way he goes quiet after work, the worry he tucks away so I will not see it. I love this man, and I want to cover him in prayer.

I confess I have not always made our home a soft place for him to land. I have met his tiredness with my list of needs, his silence with my frustration. Show me how to be a refuge and not another demand.

So I lift him to You, the One who knew him before I did and loves him deeper than I can. Strengthen him where he feels he is failing. Speak worth over him when the world keeps measuring his value by his output.

Guard his heart and his health. Give him courage for the decisions that scare him, and friends who will tell him the truth in love. Let him feel, in his bones, that he is not alone.

You said that two are better than one, that they have a good return for their labor and lift each other up when one falls. Make me the one who lifts him, faithfully, gladly.

I place my husband in Your hands tonight. Be his strength when mine is not enough. Bless this good man I get to walk beside, and let him sense how loved he is. Amen.

Amen.

Behind his quiet is a man who needs covering too.
