A Prayer for God's Peace That Surpasses Understanding
Father, by every honest measure I should be falling apart right now. The circumstances have not changed, the problem is still here, and yet I am asking You for a peace that does not make sense, the kind that holds steady when nothing else does.
I confess I usually want my situation fixed before I will feel calm. I have made my peace depend on my problems, so it rises and falls with every piece of news. I am weary of living that way.
So I ask for the deeper gift, not just relief but Your presence, a peace that stands even while the storm still stands. I cannot manufacture it. Only You can give it.
Your Word promises a peace that surpasses all understanding, one that guards the heart and mind no matter the circumstances. I am asking for exactly that, the peace I cannot explain.
I stop demanding that everything resolve before I rest. I receive Your peace as it is, mysterious and sufficient.
Guard my heart with a calm the world cannot account for, so that even those around me wonder where it comes from, and find their way to You. Amen.
Amen.
God's peace is not the absence of trouble but His presence within it.
