A Prayer for Protection from Evil

Father, there is a heaviness here I cannot explain, a sense of something dark pressing in at the edges of my thoughts and my day. I will not pretend it away. I come to You because I need to be covered from what I cannot fight on my own.

I confess that I have felt small against it, tempted toward despair, drawn toward things I know would harm me. The accusing voice has been loud, and too often I have agreed with it.

So I stand under Your protection and ask You to drive back every shadow that does not belong to me. Silence the lies. Break whatever has been whispering that I am alone or beyond reach.

You said You are faithful, that You will strengthen me and guard me from the evil one, and I am holding You to that promise tonight rather than to my fear.

Fill the space the darkness wanted with Your light. Let me sleep covered, wake clear, and walk through tomorrow knowing that the One in me is greater than anything against me. Amen.
