A Prayer for Provision for Rent

2 min readPray slowly
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”Hebrews 13:6

Lord, rent is due and I do not have it, and the fear of losing the roof over my head has settled into my stomach like a stone I carry everywhere.

I confess I am scared in a primal way, picturing the notice on the door, the scramble, the shame of not being able to keep my own family housed and safe.

But I turn to You, the God who Himself had nowhere to lay His head, who knows exactly what it is to be without a guaranteed place to sleep. You understand this particular fear.

Provide for the rent. Give me what I need before that deadline, in real and timely help. Hold the roof over us, and if there is a hard conversation to have, give me favor in it.

Your word promises that You will not leave me or forsake me, so I can say with confidence that You are my helper and I will not be afraid. Be my helper now, when I am most afraid.

I lay this deadline and this dread in Your hands. Keep us sheltered, and let me rest tonight under a roof You are holding up. Amen.

Amen.

The One you are asking for shelter once had nowhere to lay His head.
