A Prayer for Physical Strength and Healing

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”Psalm 147:3

Father, my body is not what it was, and the simple things have become hard. The stairs leave me winded, the pain wakes me, and I am tired of being limited by a frame that will not cooperate.

I confess I have grown frustrated with this body, even angry at it, mourning the strength I used to take for granted. Some days the weakness makes me feel small.

So I bring this aching, tired body to You, the One who formed it and who heals. I do not know all that is wrong, but You do, down to the smallest broken thing.

Strengthen my limbs and renew my energy for the ordinary tasks that have become mountains. Knit together what is torn, calm what is inflamed, restore what has weakened. And where healing is slow, give me patience with this body and a strength that the body cannot supply on its own.

You promised that You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds, that You restore health and renew strength. I hold that promise over this body now.

Whether healing comes fast or slow, I trust the Healer, and I rest my whole weak frame in Your steady hands. Amen.

Amen.

The God who formed your body has not lost the power to renew it.
