A Prayer for Strength to Carry On After Loss

2 min readPray slowly
“See, I am doing a new thing! I am making a way in the wilderness.”Isaiah 43:19

Father, the loss is behind me now, but I am still standing in the wreckage of the life I had. Everyone has gone back to normal, and I am left to figure out how to live in a world that is missing a piece.

I confess I do not know how to go forward. The future I planned is gone, and the path ahead is unfamiliar and dim. Some days getting out of bed is the only thing I accomplish.

So I bring this uncertain road to You, the One who makes a way in the wilderness and water in the desert. I cannot see the shape of my life after this, but I trust that You can.

Give me strength to rebuild, slowly, without pretending I am healed before I am. Show me the next small thing to do. Let me find, somewhere up ahead, that life can hold meaning again.

You said You are doing a new thing, that even now it is springing up, and You will make a way where I see none. Help me believe that on the days I cannot feel it.

I will carry on, not by forgetting, but by trusting that You are building something new from the pieces. Amen.

Amen.

Carrying on is not betrayal of what you lost. It is trust that God is still building.
