A Morning Prayer Before Work
Lord, in a little while I will be at my desk, in the truck, on the floor, wherever my work waits, and I want to bring You into it before I clock in. Be present in the hours I am about to give.
I confess work has a way of swallowing me, of becoming the place I prove myself or measure my value, until I forget I am working for You and not just for a paycheck or applause.
So I dedicate this work to You. Steady my hands and clear my head. Help me do the unglamorous tasks well and treat the people around me with patience and honesty.
You said that whatever I do, I should work at it with my whole heart, as working for You and not for people, knowing the reward comes from You. Let that reframe everything today.
Be in the meetings and the small decisions and the moments no one sees. Make my labor matter beyond what it produces. I give You my work, and I trust You to make it meaningful. Amen.
Amen.
Your work is worship when you do it for the One who is watching all along.
