A Morning Prayer to Start the Day with God
Father, the room is still gray and quiet, and before I reach for my phone or the worries waiting behind my eyelids, I want to reach for You. This is the first hour, and I do not want to spend it on my own.
I confess I usually start by bracing, by listing, by running ahead of the day in my mind as if my fretting could shape what comes. I have made the morning a place of striving when You meant it for meeting.
So here I am, sitting in the early light, turning my face toward You first. Be the first voice I listen for. Let everything else fall into line behind You.
You said that in the morning You hear my voice, that I can lay my requests before You and wait in hope. So I lay this day down and I wait, not anxious but expectant.
Walk with me from this quiet into whatever the hours hold. Let me carry the warmth of this moment into the noise. I give You the first of my day, and trust You with the rest of it. Amen.
However you spend the first hour shapes the whole day. Spend it with Him.
