A Morning Prayer for My Family
Father, before the house wakes and the day pulls us in different directions, I lift up the people I love. The ones down the hall, across town, far away. They are my heart walking around outside my chest.
I confess I do not always love them well. I get short, distracted, quick to correct and slow to listen. I carry my stress home and let it land on the ones who least deserve it.
So I ask You to cover this family today. Guard each of them where I cannot go. Knit us closer, soften our sharp edges, and fill our home with more grace than tension.
You said that as for me and my house, we will serve You, and I want that to be true not just in words but in how we treat each other from the moment we wake.
Watch over every coming and going today, every road they travel, every burden they carry. I give You the ones I love, and I trust them to Your keeping more than my own. Amen.
Amen.
You cannot protect the ones you love from everything. But you can entrust them to the One who can.
