A Morning Prayer for Peace in an Anxious Mind

2 min readPray slowly
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds”Philippians 4:6-7

Father, my mind woke up before I did, already crowded, already churning through everything unresolved. There is a tightness in my chest that arrived without permission, and I cannot seem to set it down.

I confess I have been keeping watch over my worries as if guarding them would keep me safe, turning the same fears over and over until they have worn grooves in my thoughts.

So I bring the whole anxious tangle to You and ask You to untie it. Slow my breathing. Quiet the part of me that keeps rehearsing disaster. Sit with me in this early stillness.

You said I should not be anxious about anything, but in prayer bring everything to You, and that Your peace, deeper than I can understand, would guard my heart and mind. Let it stand guard now.

Trade my dread for Your calm, one breath at a time. Let me walk into this day with a settled heart instead of a racing one. I give You my anxiety, and I receive Your peace. Amen.

Amen.

Peace is not the absence of trouble. It is His presence in the middle of it.
