A Prayer for Peace After an Argument
Father, the words have stopped but the ache has not. The house is quiet now, too quiet, and I keep replaying the things we said, hearing the sharp edges, wishing I could pull half of them back.
I confess my part in it. I let my pride answer when patience should have. I aimed to wound instead of understand, raising my voice when I could have lowered it, and now there is a distance between us I helped create.
So I bring this rupture to You, the God of reconciliation. Soften the hardness that is still sitting in my chest. Show me where I owe an apology and give me the humility to offer it first.
Your Word says as far as it depends on me, I am to live at peace with others. Help me do my part, to lower my defenses and reach across the silence before it grows roots.
I lay down my need to be proven right. I trust You with the repair.
Mend what we tore, restore what we strained, and let this argument become a place we grew closer instead of further apart. Amen.
Amen.
The bravest words after a fight are often I am sorry, said first.
