A Prayer for Peace and Rest

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28

Father, I am tired in a way sleep does not seem to fix. My body is worn and my spirit is heavier still, and I have been running on empty for longer than I want to admit. I do not just need a nap. I need rest in my soul.

I confess I have worn my exhaustion like a badge, proving my worth by how much I carry and how little I stop. I forgot that even You rested, and called the rest good.

So I come to You with my weariness and lay it down. You invite the tired and the burdened to come, and You promise to give us rest, not more to do.

Your Word says, Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. I take You at Your word and stop performing for a peace You already offer freely.

I let go of the guilt that says I must always be producing. I receive Your rest as a gift, not a reward.

Restore what these long days have drained, fill me back up from the inside, and teach me the deep rest that only living in Your presence can give. Amen.

Amen.

Rest is not a reward you earn but a gift God invites you to receive.
