A Prayer for Peace of Mind
Father, my thoughts will not sit still tonight. They circle the same worries like birds that refuse to land, and my jaw is tight from carrying them. I came here hoping to set my mind down, but it keeps picking itself back up.
I confess I have treated worry like a job I cannot quit, replaying conversations, rehearsing problems that have not even happened yet. All it has earned me is a tired heart and a heavy head.
So I turn to You, the One who is not anxious about anything. Take these spinning thoughts into Your steady hands. Slow them. Sort them. Let me hand You the ones I was never meant to solve alone.
You promised to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind stays fixed on You, because that person trusts You. Help me fix my mind there now, on Your faithfulness instead of my fears.
I release the need to think my way to safety. I trust You to hold what I cannot hold.
Settle my mind like dust settling in still air, and let me rest in the quiet knowing that You are awake, and You have me. Amen.
Amen.
A mind fixed on God finds a quiet no worry can reach.
